I'm changing from one platform to another. What do I need to buy for my new platform? Do I need to repurchase books that I already own?
Solution

When you purchase a book or Bible from Laridian, you are licensed to use that book or Bible on any compatible platform that the book or Bible is published on. So, for example, if you are changing from a Palm OS phone to a Windows Mobile phone, you are already licensed to use the Windows Mobile versions of your books and Bibles that you have previously purchased. You do NOT need to buy second copies of these books and Bibles again, unless some one other than you will be using them. You will need to download and install the version of the book and Bible designed for your new mobile computer, but there is no additional charge for this.

While you will not need to buy new copies of books and Bibles that you previously purchased, you will need to buy the correct program designed for your new computing device.

For example, if you are changing from a Palm OS phone to a Windows Mobile phone, your MyBible program will not work. You will need to buy the PocketBible program designed for Windows Mobile computers. If you are changing to a BlackBerry phone, you will need the Noah program designed for BlackBerry phones.

Please note that for technical and licensing considerations not all books and Bibles are available for all computing platforms. Depending upon which type of mobile computer you are switching to, some books and Bibles that you've previously purchased may not be available for that new mobile computer. You can determine what products are available by looking at the catalog order form, available at the Laridian Web site, for your new mobile computer.

These guidelines also apply if you are adding a computer. For instance, if you already use one of Laridian's mobile products and want to add our software to your Windows PC, you do not need to buy second copies of books and Bibles that you already own. You simply need to buy the correct program (PocketBible for Windows in this example) and then download and install the compatible versions of the books and Bibles that you previously purchased.

These guidelines apply when you are the sole user of the licensed material. For example, if you have a mobile device and buy a mobile device for your spouse, then you need to buy a second license for your spouse. That is, you cannot "share" your purchase between two people on two different computers.

You do NOT need to repurchase books you already own from Laridian when you purchase PocketBible for Windows or switch to any other platform from what you previously owned.

To summarize, if you are changing from one mobile computer platform to another:

  • You do NOT need to repurchase books and Bibles that you previously purchased.
  • You do need to purchase the version of the Laridian program that is compatible with your new mobile device.
  • You do need to download and install the versions of your previously purchased books and Bibles in the format compatible with your new device. Compatible versions of the books and Bibles will appear in your download account when you purchase the required, compatible program.
  • If you purchased Laridian products on a CD, you must register the CD to obtain different versions of the books and Bibles contained on that CD. Only registered products in your Laridian download account can be automatically updated to your new platform.

Please follow these guidelines when placing your order for the new program for your new mobile computer:

  • Do purchase the Laridian program or programs that are compatible with your new device.
  • Do add any additional books or Bibles that you'd like to purchase.
  • Do NOT check mark books on the order form that you already own.
  • When checking out, do indicate that you are a returning customer and use your Laridian account credentials. If you create a new account, you will not have access to the books and Bibles that you previously purchased.
Thank you for continuing to choose Laridian products!
